Lucy's Story - HHF21 & Beyond

We'd like to introduce you to Lucy - a CGF Member who started her journey with us with a Healthy, Happy, Fit Transformation and hasn't looked back!
My fitness journey...
My story is not one of those overnight successes. I didn’t take a magic pill. My results were not from a fad diet. My story is one with early morning workouts, aching muscles and graft.
Exercise never came naturally to me. I found it a chore. Conventional gyms are intimidating, scary and mind numbingly boring. Running never interested me, weights seemed like too much effort and I always gave up too easy with floor work. But I longed to be fit and healthy. I tried so many times and gave up but this time it was different. I knew whatever I did it had to be a lifestyle change and not just a short term fix.
I had attended Carla’s community based classes over 6 years ago and knew how much I loved them. Then I saw Carla advertising a fundraiser for East Cheshire Hospice in January 2020 when CGF did 24 classes in 24 hours (amazing I know right?). I thought this was the perfect chance to try her classes again and see if it was for me. I chose to do a class at 11pm as I hoped it would be dark and I could hide at the back where nobody would see me. As soon as I walked into the studio I was greeted by a massive hug off Carla. I honestly found this so touching as after 6 years she still remembered me! I immediately felt at ease.
I did the class and it went well, so well in fact I stayed for the midnight class too!
A week later I saw CGF advertising a ‘Healthy Happy Fit’ program and I was interested. The program said it would give me the opportunity to try out the CGF lifestyle, classes & get support - and that’s exactly what it did. I signed up for the 3 week program and I’ve never looked back. Initially I lost 9lbs in the first 3 weeks of Healthy Happy Fit. I was so proud and couldn’t believe the results I achieved. I tried a whole range of classes from Pump to Badass, Zumba to Kettlersize. And managed to find my feet and pick my favourites. All the instructors are so so supportive, encouraging and non-judgemental.
Now nearly 8 months on I am 3 and a half stone down and feeling better than ever. My life has truly changed for good and I can’t quite believe how far I have come. Fitness now is a normal part of my routine, it’s not a chore and doesn’t feel like a drag but quite the opposite in fact. I look at my watch and think ‘gosh there’s only 5 minutes left of the class where did the time go?’.
I can now firmly say I am a part of the CGF family and absolutely love it. CGF is more than exercise classes, it’s a supportive community that’s always there to cheer you on through your highs and support you through your lows. This is only the start of my journey.
